  1. Hi Mary,
Thank you for the water on your property. I just made it there to get cold water since the water we carried was 90 degrees, and we couldn’t get cooled down. My friend and I were both struggling….I went ahead to see if I could get some cool water and bring it back to my friend, I left my pack and belongings on your property after chugging water, I got a big bottle ready for her and went to intercept her and carry her backpack and give her the cooler water…. SadlyI found her unresponsive and not breathing and no heartbeat. I did CPR for what felt like forever until the helicopters got there. Sadly she was gone. It was the hardest thing I have been through. I have to give a big shout out to the police who went up the next day to your property to get my pack and gear. I did not continue the trip,….but I plan to do it again in her honor.
I wanted to thank you for the water that you had there then…it probably saved my life.

    1. Thank you for your comment, Carin. I recall the event, as staff from the PCTA and RivCo Sheriff contacted me that next day to get my permission for someone from the Sheriff’s Department to fetch your belongings. (I had just left the property for the season.) I am deeply sorry for the death of your friend and your loss. Ever since I decided to close my hiker oasis, I’ve been looking for someone to re-establish the water cache that existed for many years two miles south of my place, and was laid down in 2020. Perhaps your comment will be a reminder of how important water is on these very dry stretches of trail and will urge someone on to step up and take on this task. God bless.
      Mary
