Date set for Celebrate Anza, 2022

While I held “subdued” events in 2020 (remember the PCT thru hiker year that wasn’t due to Covid?) and 2021, I’m doing a more typical Celebrate Anza event in 2022. The date is Saturday, April 30. Thru hikers need not rsvp. … Just show up. For everyone else, if you plan on attending, please rsvp at pct145trailangelmary@gmail.com by April 28 for driving and parking directions. Food service will run 11-2pm.

Hiker register for 2022

Out with the old and in with the new. I replaced my 2021 hiker register with a new one. The prompt for this year is: “What have you learned on your journey so far?” There are a couple innovations for this year: I am trying out using a physically-smaller journal for the register, so that I can swap one out for a new one if it gets soaked and it becomes hard to write new entries without the ink smearing. (I bought four identical journals; hopefully, that will be enough.) More importantly, I am coordinating with another trail angel to place a similar hiker register/journal near Bridge of the Gods, to compare what hikers learn in the 2,000+/- miles of hiking through the remainder of California and Oregon. I’ll supply the link for contributions to that second register once I have it.
