I got a lovely surprise when I went to visit Walden on Saturday morning: a hiker with the trail name Slug (who blogs at slugpace.com) paid a visit to my place and left a beautiful hand-painted watercolor postcard.
An image on Slug’s instagram feed shows that he painted several similar postcards while at my place. Pretty, cool, huh?
Slug, if you stumble upon this post from the pingback, sorry I missed you. We have a lot in common.
Somehow I am just seeing this. Years later my PCT edition of Whitman and Thoreau live on my esteemed top shelf in my own library. I remember your oasis well and hope you have been able to keep it up.
Thanks again!

Glad to connect with you, a couple of years after the fact. I re-theme my oasis each year. In 2019, it has been renamed “Brooklyn Ferry” and re-themed to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Walt Whitman. Not sure what I’ll do for 2020.
